Visual Aid Speech dates are now 11/4 & 11/9. You will NOT, however, be allowed to use note cards. You don't get note cards in a corporate board room. So learn your speech well. It's 6 minutes TOPS. But I am not going to turn you into another legion of people who are going to kill the world by powerpoint, so let's take an extra day to really learn our speeches & work on their presentation using the lessons from Katya. I will join in as time permits and give you a preview of my top points from my dissertation & you can critique my slides too. Please be VERY careful with your time and remember people will be asking you 1 question about your presentation (not part of your time).
Next, some dates and rescheduling and assignment changes.
1. We are NOT doing speeches for the second speech observation assignment. Your writing will just have to carry you through. Thus, since people who didn't go to Obama were going to have to give a speech, you are now responsible for writing an extra 200 words instead of giving a 1-2 minute speech. Students may at random, however, be asked to tell us about their speech observation. This is still due on 11/9 on the blog.
2. We are not having class on 11/11. We ARE having class on 11/16.
I am canceling the class before Thankgsiving on 11/23.
We will have a make-up class, TBA, but shock shock it may be on a Friday. Sorry.
3. Persuasive speech dates: 11/30 & 12/2 - you will have to stay 10 min over or come 10 min early to fill out evaluations. 12/2 is the last day of class. More info on this assignment Thurs.
This was the only way I could think to make all of this fit in & I hate the last day as a speech day but there you have it.
